Mineko Mori

 

Mineko Mori was born in Tokyo Japan, to an American mother and Japanese father. Her grandfather was Iwao Mori, one of the founders of the Japanese film industry and active in the development of filmmakers, including director Akira Kurosawa, among others. Mineko has lived in Japan, the United States, England and Mexico, where she currently resides. She is a producer, distributor and screenwriter with over thirty years of experience in different areas of the film industry, collaborating with major companies including Televisa and Paramount Pictures as director of co-productions and acquisitions for Latin America, acquiring successful titles such as Juno and Brokeback Mountain, and the Huevocartoon franchise, the most successful Mexican animated films worldwide.

She currently heads up Latam Pictures, launched in conjunction with her business partner, Mexican producer Alex Garcia with the successful theatrical release of the El Cartel de los Sapos in 2013 and has since been actively involved in the distribution of Mexican and international films, including No sé si cortarme las venas o dejármelas largas, A Rainy Day in New York and Vice, among others. #LadyRancho, Mineko’s original story and screenplay was the highest performing Mexican film per screen in 2019 and is among the most watched Spanish-language films on Amazon Prime worldwide. Latam Pictures is preparing the production of 37 KMS to be shot the last trimester of 2021 in Mexico City and the Sierra Tarahumara with the indigenous Rarámuri, in addition to #LadyRancho 2. Mineko is executive producer of titles including El Cielo en tu Mirada, Un Gallo con Muchos Huevos (the highest grossing Mexican film of 2015), and the upcoming franchise installment of Huevocartoon, with whom she frequently collaborates, Un Rescate de Huevitos.

Mineko often lectures on Mexican film industry topics in different countries around the world, and has participated as a member of the committee and jury of incentives and funds for film projects in Mexico and Colombia. In addition to overseeing the sales and distribution of Latam Pictures’ titles, Mineko advises Imagem Films Mx, sister company of Imagem Filmes Brasil in the overall release strategies of its international films and acquisitions of both Mexican and international content. She is actively developing films and series for production in the near future.
