Project Title: Community Movement: Trans and Queer Body Mapping Workshops

Project Description: The project of queering and diversifying dance requires a moving methodology. This project aims at developing such a methodology by introducing movement into body mapping, an arts-based method. A moving methodology would foster a greater understanding of the experiences of 2SLGBTQIAP+ individuals as well as of community needs within Regina, which are critical for the development of more effective local programming. Body mapping is suited for research that investigates the impact of transphobia and homophobia and the intersection with racism, ableism, and other forms of oppression, as it “facilitates participants reclaiming or creating a preferred view of the body”(Jager et al 2016, 4).
