Home and Away: Exploring space, place, and relations towards holistic stewardship

Kathryn Ricketts – Research Lead

Diana Chabros/Sky Story – Community Partner

Kathryn Ricketts, Diana Chabros, Joseph Naytowhow and Ken Wilson – Artists/Researchers

Home and Away, a community based research, integrates story, paint and movement towards a deeper understanding of place, relations and land. With a series of interdisciplinary workshops in Val Marie and the Grasslands for local and visiting youth/adults, we call attention to notions of home and away. Val Marie experiences a large influx of tourists enroute to The Grasslands and with this work we ask how can we mindfully explore these spaces/places toward holistic stewardship?

The four researchers will be writing about their experiences facilitating these workshops as well as consolidating creative artefacts towards presentation, publications and a seminar/workshop series offered to faculty, staff, and students throughout the two years and beyond.
